Plastic Stock Tanks
Behlen, High Country, HiQual, and Rubbermaid stock tanks are some of the more common plastic tanks you will find. When researching plastic tanks you should be aware of the size and number of inset steps used for stiffening in the side. It is common for the top step to jab you in the middle of your back when leaning against the side. One remedy is to place a foam pad above the step.
Unlike metal tanks, plastic stock tanks have sloped sides which make it easier for draining. It also feels more natural and relaxing to sit back because you can rest your arms and neck on top. Plastic tanks are also lighter which make them easier to move. You don't ever have to worry about rust when you buy plastic either.
Although there is no conclusive proof, people tend to think plastic stock tanks are not as durable as their metal counterparts. Many people prefer the look of a metal tank as well. Plastic stocks are also more difficult to build decking around because of their angled sides.
